Nothing says, "I care about you" more than a custom-made or homemade gift. The time and effort one puts into creating a gift for another person is special and more meaningful than running to Target and purchasing a candle which barely has a scent. Additionally, with wedding and graduation season looming overhead and in the back of everyone's minds, gifts are needed to celebrate the person and the event.
Instead of working on a gift on one's own or purchasing a store-bought gift, why not make a party out of gift creation? If you are a girl who enjoys purses and other fun accessories, 1154 LILL Studio may be the fun experience you are looking for.
Jennifer Velarde, LILL Studio founder and owner, conceived the idea for her business during an August 1999 street fair where she was selling handbags.
"I didn't have enough product to sell at the event, but had yards of fabric and many samples," Verlarde said. "My solution was to take custom orders. It was an immediate hit as customers loved the idea of designing their own looks and our custom design concept was born. Our company has grown by virtue of creating beautiful, high quality products that involve the consumer in the process."
LILL Studio opened its first store in Chicago's Lincoln Park area. There is also another LILL Studio on Newbury Street in Boston, Mass.
According to Verlarde, LILL Studio was created in order to give customers the ultimate handbag shopping experience. Besides purses, LILL Studio also allows you to create and purchase wallets, clutch bags and pillows among other items.
The best part about LILL Studio is customers are able to create their own bags and accessories using a large variety of fabrics-over 150 in total-supplied in-store and online.
"Customers choose the style and the fabrics and we manufacture their products to their exact specifications in our Chicago production facility," Verlarde said.
One of the biggest perks of LILL Studio is how they play host to bag design parties, which can occur in-store or in your home. LILL Studio has hosted parties for sororities, bachelorette parties as well as fund-raising efforts.
