Purdue's Executive Committee of Board of Trustees oversaw the selection of OnePurdue to license new software on campus to enhance enrollment and admissions. The Sunguard Higher Education software is a Banner application which is being installed at the Purdue campuses in Hammond and Fort Wayne.
According to Ken Johnston, vice chancellor of administrative services, having similar software on the remaining two campuses will enhance the transfer of data and the coordination of common academic offerings. He also said the enhancements will provide additional functionality both for the student user and university faculty and staff.
"Students will have greater access to their data and the ability to do more for themselves and faculty and will have greater access to the data they need," said Johnston.
The application's purpose is to improve the workflow and data storage, along with increased web access and functionality, additional on-line business capability, improved customer service and increased functionality for administrative support functions.
Johnston said that there will be new finance software installed in early February and human resource software in July, also part of the OnePurdue project.
In a memo sent to all Purdue University campuses, Sally Mason, provost, and Morgan R. Olsen, executive vice president and treasurer of Purdue University-West Lafayette, announced the trustees were based on significant input from the OnePurdue Enrollment and Student Affairs Advisory Committee, OnePurdue project management and additional representatives from the Calumet, Fort Wayne, North Central and West Lafayette campuses. This provides the opportunity to enhance the Banner applications currently in place at the Calumet and Fort Wayne campuses and will allow all campuses to use the applications in accordance with their specific needs.
Doug Sharp, assistant vice chancellor for information and instructional technologies, said compatibility across the four Purdue campuses should lead to greater efficiencies in exchanging data and improving the sharing of expertise between PUC and West Lafayette. PUC and Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) have had Banner for several years.
