The game started off slow but TIU (9-13, 1-3) picked up the pace midway through the first half and PUC couldn't seem to keep up. The Lady Peregrines looked sluggish and the Lady Trojans appeared to notice, pushing the ball up the floor at every opportunity.
PUC out-rebounded the visitors 44-29 and got to the charity stripe 19 times compared to the Lady Trojans' three, but PUC's limited practice and conditioning schedule and short bench may have been their demise.
The Lady Peregrines were out-hustled by TIU in the first half and the Lady Trojans scored 23 points on 25 turnovers.
TIU took a 28-22 lead into the break despite missing their only real post presence, leading rebounder and second leading scorer Alisa Haman.
PUC came out of the locker room with more vigor at the half, but the Lady Trojans never relinquished the lead, ahead by at least four points for the duration of the contest.
LaKeisha Hurst had 16 points and 11 boards for PUC, leading the game in both categories and Jessica Hammond chipped in 11 and seven.
New-comer Nicole Enright, a walk-on, missed her first field goal attempt but did pull down 2 rebounds in the final minute of the first half.
TIU is a CCAC Division II team. PUC will be dropping from Division I to Division II next season.
