The Peregrines owned almost every offensive and defensive category in their 82-46 victory. PUC (6-16) took on the Moody Bible Institute Archers (4-12) at home Thursday. The Peregrines picked up a decisive win.
"They made me look like a genius," said Coach Dennis Smith after the game.
The Lady Peregrine's eight players delivered a balanced attack with every member of the team scoring five points or more. All eight players were in the mix. The minutes were 22 as lowest and 35 as the highest for PUC.
The Lady Peregrines delivered a one-two punch in the paint with 36 field goals and 27 assists. They predominately outsized the Archers underneath the arc and were putting down all of the easy layups.
The team rebounds stacked up evenly at 37 and 36 but PUC took advantage of 15 steals to MBI's seven. The Lady Peregrines shot a field goal percentage of 54.4 percent and the Archers were only able to hit 19 field goals.
PUC leading scorer, Krystal Rigoni hit 17 shots and grabbed four boards off of the bench. Stephanie Peacock also came off the bench with nine points and two blocked shots. Shannon Dugan recorded 11 assists and 10 points.
"We had good team unity," said Rigoni.
Linsey Smith left the game early in the second half due to a previously bruised rib. Smith finished her night with seven points and four assists. She is expected to return for the next game at Trinity Christian College on Saturday.
Nicole Enright scored 5 straight field goals to mark her first game in the starting lineup with the Lady Peregrines.
"We could peak at the right time and maybe sneak up on a few teams," said Smith.
PUC has played five days out of the last seven. They will play their next game at the REC Center next Tuesday against Robert Morris College. They have seven games left in the season, six of which are conference matches.
