MLB
The Cubs and White Sox raised ticket prices this year. The Sox are a winning team, so the price change is reasonable. But since they spent a few dollars this offseason, apparently they think they'll be good.
The Cubs have yet to avoid arbitration with pitcher Carlos Zambrano. Zambrano reportedly wanted over $16 million. Zambrano should take what money he can get and just play ball. Baseball is nothing but a business.
Long time Yankee Bernie Williams is likely to pass on a minor league offer from the Yanks. Williams has had a sensational career, and it's probably time to hang up the cleats. Williams is a sure Hall of Famer.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has said numerous times that he would love former Sox player Robin Ventura to be a part of the Sox organization. Ventura would be great addition to the coaching staff with his experience and knowledge of the game.
NFL
The Cowboys hired Wade Phillips as their head coach. Wade who? Phillips brings with him 30 years of coaching experience. Phillips was the Bills head coach from 1998-2000. Phillips is a laid back coach and may be what the cowboys need. No coach can be laid back with Terrell Owens on his team. Have fun Wade.
Saints QB Drew Brees dislocated his left elbow in the 1st quarter of the Pro Bowl last Saturday. So much for the Pro Bowl being on of the softest all-star games, with no blitzing and no hard hitting. This injury will make players think twice about playing in future Pro Bowls.
Bears defensive lineman Tank Johnson pleaded guilty to violating probation in his gun case. How could he possibly plead anything else? Johnson I still under house arrest and can only leave to attend Halas Hall. Johnson after this probably learned not play with guns.
NBA
Bulls' rookie forward Tyrus Thomas received an invitation to the dunk contest. Thomas replied to the invitation saying he was only going to collect money and had no interest in the contest. Bulls GM John Paxson fined Thomas $10,000 for his comments. Thomas has done nothing all year and should be honored to be invited to the contest.
Celtics guard Paul Pierce returned to the court from injury in the Celtics 17th straight loss. This is the worst streak in franchise history. Pierce probably should have stayed on the bench. Everyone knows the entire Eastern Conference in weak, but this is just sad.
Pacers guard Darrell Armstrong was suspended for one game last Saturday after inappropriate actions after his ejection. This is another example of classless behavior in the NBA.
