Letters to the Editor

Issue date: 2/26/07 Section: Opinion
I just read the article regarding the snow plows and Hammond by Brandon Thomas. I am very angry with this article and with Thomas's ability to do his research. I am an employee of the city of Hammond and I took great offense to this. The reason I am so angry is becuase Indianapolis Blvd. is not owned by Hammond. Indianapolis Blvd. is also called Route 41. This means that it is a state highway. For Hammond to plow Indianapolis would be like Brandon coming over to my house to shovel my side walk. I wouldnt want to do someone elses job and I am sure niether would he. So next time you want to get mad at Hammod workers not plowing, first look at what street you're on. If your on Indianapolis or Calumet look for the yellow plow trucks and wonder where your state taxes are going.
"U.S. Route 41 is a north-south United States Highway that runs from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Miami, Florida."

Thank you very much,

Stop it. Just stop it. I don't lend much credence to school newspapers anyway, but I draw the line completely when everybody and their mamas decide to become fashion critics.
Do any of you actually think you're qualified to tell other adults how to dress? It's bad enough that Ms. Rodriguez feels the urge to insult people once a week with her overwhelmingly passive-aggressive "Fashion Don'ts," without the whole crew jumping on board to say that they, too, dislike everything anyone might wear to school.
Jade Lee Culberson's insightful "only stupid people wear shorts in winter," for instance. Well Ms. Culberson, not everyone has the same tolerance when it comes to weather. Some people don't feel cold in 30 degrees and some people don't feel hot in 90 degrees; that's the way it is. If you're one of those people that gets cold when you see the "underdressed," well, you're just going to have to learn to get over it.
As for the rest of you, so the members of The Chronicle staff don't like the Goth look on guys; I thought the model was adorable in makeup. So Isabel doesn't think men should wear fur; there are obviously a substantial number of students on this campus, both male and female, that think nothing's wrong with it.
